Reddy Kilowatt

“From the the Hilltop Watchtower Command Center in Gitmo Nation West in the People’s Republic of Southern Califor-ni-a! Sheeple turning into turkeys! “And from Northern Silicon Valley – the home of Reddy Kilowatt!”

During the opening of NA #255, Dvorak explained Reddy Kilowatt the mascot of west coat power company, Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E). Reddy was actually created in Alabama and was later adopted by different power companies as a symbol of clean, powerful electricity!

Bourbon Mashed Sweet Potatoes

Yams

Dvorak was giving Adam some Thanksgiving cooking tips with this Bourbon Mashed Sweet Potato recipe from Emeril.

John said you just have to take several large Garnet yams and bake them for 1 hour 15 minutes. Let cool a bit, then while carefully holding the potatoes with a towel or pot holder, scoop out the insides into a bowl. Then, you mix in cream, butter and bourbon!

Mac Mini/Snow Leopard Server

Posted on 28 November 2010 by Dave

Adam want to get off the cloud in a big way – what with Google selling out your data to the Feds (only $20!) he doesn’t want to compromise confidential data from people that send him inside info. His search for a ‘turn-key’ server solution that he could run inhouse was complete when he scored a Mac Mini server with it’s included OS – OSX Snow Leopard Server. To make it more like the Gmail service he was used to, he added Mail Steward, a MySQL database solution for rapid search and archiving of email. He also added a Mail.app plug in called MsgFilr for quick keyboard shortcuts to store mail in specific folders. On top of this, he added GnuGP for easy encryption of mail messages.

Adam went into detail expaining his server setup during DSC #853. He also describes it here on his CurrysCloud site.

Nullification: How To Resist Tyranny In The 21st Century

This book was mentioned during several No Agenda episodes in October. This book is intriguing for it’s premise that states have the right to override federal laws that they consider unconstitutional under the 10th Amendment of the US Constitution.

One example that was brought up was, what if California passed Proposition 19, which would have legalized marijuana. Obama and the feds said they would still prosecute cases it deemed necessary – would the state of California be able to nullify federal laws? Dvorak said that in order to make alcohol illegal under prohibition, a constitutional amendment had to be passed for it to be enforceable countrywide.

Soho House West Hollywood

Posted on 28 November 2010 by Dave

Adam was invited to dinner at the exclusive private club, Soho House. Adam was guest of Micky’s friend, director/writer Frank Coraci (The Wedding Singer, Waterboy). Adam explained that it’s a private club that originated in London and that you can get black balled by other members. Adam always finds it interesting to explain what he’s up to and how his concepts are received while he is in these kinds of social situations.

The 1928 book Propaganda was recommended by No Agenda Producer Jamie during NA 254.  Dvorak commented that author, Edward Bernays, is considered the father of modern public relations.

Chilling is the opening statement of the book:

The conscious and intelligent manipulation of the organized habits and opinions of the masses is an important element in democratic society. Those who manipulate this unseen mechanism of society constitute an invisible government which is the true ruling power of our country.”

—Edward Bernays, Propaganda

The Jungle

The Jungle by Upton Sinclair

Get it at Amazon

Upton Sinclair’s The Jungle was mentioned by John Dvorak during NA #256. Dvorak said it’s a book that everyone has to read at least once in their lifetime. Written by a socialist writer, who later attempted to run for governor of California with a platform including the repeal of state sales tax. His campaign was derailed by members of the Hollywood community! Dvorak was puzzled how a socialists, progressives and Democrats in general, are now for adding taxes and not lowering them like they used to. Why are the democrats now for more intrusion into citizens lives?

The Jungle is considered a powerful indictment of capitalism unrestrained and the mistreatment of the American worker. The book is noted for it’s raw and gory descriptions of  working conditions in the Chicago meatpacking industry.

This edition is based on the original 1905 serial edition before it was streamlined for the 1906 commercially published edition.

Chemtrails over Hollywood Hills

Photo: Adam Curry - Creative Commons

Adam’s got a sore throat and he think’s it caused by the Chemtrails that he sees above his Hilltop Watchtower in the Hollywood Hills. He claims the Chemtrails drift down to his place and it’s making him sick. The Hilltop Watchtower is within close proximity of the Hollywood Reservoir, so anyone that drinks its water is getting the effect of the chemtrail poison.

American Gangster

Get it at Amazon

John Dvorak’s DVR was busy this week recording a national security wonkfest (Spook Groupies!) from CSPAN. During this meeting, a question from a reporter from Executive Intelligence Review concerning the massive flow of drugs out of the British zone of Afghanistan and General Jones speech concerning fighting drugs, international crime and the “sophisticated interface with international business”  was brushed off abruptly by the moderator. This brought up a mention of American Gangster by Dvorak which he described as more of a documentary than a fiction piece. This film chronicles the story of Frank Lucas (Denzel Washington), a real-life Harlem crime lord who built an empire on Southeast Asian heroin in the 1970s.

Radiation Dosimeter

Posted on 16 November 2010 by Dave

Dosimeter Badge

Feel like your gettin’ dosed by x-rays on a regular basis? Work around a Gitmo Body Scanner? Buddy, you need a Dosimeter badge to carry around to monitor your radiation exposure! Used by medical technicians, radiologists and dentists, these badges monitor accumulated radiation exposure. Wear the dosimeter badge while at work and then send off to be read by the vendor. John Dvorak reported that  Stanford Dosimetry makes some of the more affordable badges available at $69 a year, per person.

Perhaps a show producer can make some No Agenda co-branded dosimeter badges to hand out to TSA agents?

Dvorak recommended this book during NA #249. In a discussion about actor Randy Quaid, Dvorak brought up Fahrenheit 451 which portrays the concept of coordinated vilification of people that go against the powers that be. Adam said this is one of the strategies is to use his ‘crackpot’ moniker, so you can’t hurt him in that way.
