YouTube Copyright School

Posted on 26 April 2011 by Dave

The cartoon characters of Happy Tree Friends were enlisted to make this instructional video to help instruct YouTube users the ins and outs of Copyright law and what is appropriate to post on YouTube. While playing the clip during NA 269, Adam sighed, “How sad is that!” He was in danger of going into a funk again because the video trivialized copyright’s fair use provisions. Adam also pointed out that he thought the cartoon seemed to copy Rocky and Bullwinkle with it’s Lumpy character. He next declared Google’s Serge Brin “evil” for releasing this video! Dvorak declared the video pathetic.

At No Agenda Entertainment, we’ve been fans of Happy Tree Friends and their usually comic and violent escapades for years and hate having to see them used for this manner!

Atlas V Rocket Launch

Posted on 20 April 2011 by Dave

Atlas V - Vandenberg AFB - April 24, 2011

During No Agenda #295, Adam brought up the upcoming Atlas V launch at nearby Vandenberg Air Force Base. This rocket launched a secret satellite to no doubt, spy on us – according to Adam.

No Agenda Entertainment decided to hit the road and drive down Vandenberg from Oakland. We brought along a camera and picked up a couple friends in Santa Cruz along the way. We ended up arriving at the viewing area along Corral Rd. with 30 seconds to spare! At 9:24pm, the speaker announced  ’IGNITION’ and a bright light flashed a couple miles away as the rocket began its liftoff. As the rocket streaked skyward, the low sounding roar could be heard. The PA announcer counted off the SRB (solid rocket booster) separation and then the seperation of the first stage. The Atlas then soared out of site. After five or so minutes, the mission became top secret and went into stealth mode.

The Borgias

Posted on 18 April 2011 by Dave

The Borgias - Showtime
Adam has a glowing review of The Borgias, which takes place in 1492 and dramatizes the characters and events surrounding Cardinal Borgia’s take over of the papacy.

Adam exclaimed, “You have to watch this! It is great!  Noted actor, Jeremy Irons plays the head of the Borgia clan who ascends to the papacy via crime, extortion, torture and murder and becomes Pope Alexander VI.   The show’s subtitle is “the original crime family” and  proceeds to rips apart the entire Catholic religion according to Adam.

Adam went on to heap more accolades on the production, “This is Showtime, man these guys put some money into this stuff,  it looks beautiful. The story is a lot more believable than that Kennedy crap! (referring to the recent Katie Holmes series about JFK). It’s really good and I advise everyone watch it! If you want some really good entertainment that happens to come over television, this is it if you have Showtime, or get it from torrent for all I care. Absoutely outstanding!

Ok Adam -we’ll check it out!

Spider-Man Musical

Spider-Man - The Musical

During his birthday trip to NYC with his family, John C. Dvorak attended the Broadway musical of Spiderman which he disliked immensely. Dvorak reported that due to the shows high technical demands, the performance was paused for around ten minutes right before a scenes climax!

Here’s Gawker’s pan of the play.

The Daily Beast has a slideshow of the tragedies and problems befalling  the production.

Bouley NYC

It was Dvorak’s birthday so he and the family headed to New York City to celebrate! For a special birthday meal they dined at one of John’s favorite NYC restaurants, Bouley. During No Agenda 293, John reported that Bouley, “is quite tasty and they have a rather inexpensive tasting menu for lunch!”

Looking at the Yelp reviews, one sees many raves for their lunches which are quite a good value at this fancy eatery.
