During NA 321 Adam played a clip of a representative of the State Dept. at the New America Foundation, whose logo looks suspiciously like the CIA’s which signifies they are a total Spoof Organization” according to Dvorak. The State Dept. douchebag gave a talk on what the Techno Experts are cooking up and he brought up a new technology called Internet In A Suitcase Program. Internet In A Suitcase seems to be some kind of kit, so Adam mused if it was a carry on item or not. Dvorak thinks it’s a kit that tells you to write certain things on your Twitter account, here’s when you do it!
Dvorak followed up that the New America Foundation is headed by the author of Ghost Worlds: The Secret History of the CIA. Adam then Google’d such headlines as Internet In A Suitcase: Sends Oppressive Regimes Packing!
During No Agenda #295, Adam brought up the upcoming Atlas V launch at nearby Vandenberg Air Force Base. This rocket launched a secret satellite to no doubt, spy on us – according to Adam.
No Agenda Entertainment decided to hit the road and drive down Vandenberg from Oakland. We brought along a camera and picked up a couple friends in Santa Cruz along the way. We ended up arriving at the viewing area along Corral Rd. with 30 seconds to spare! At 9:24pm, the speaker announced  ’IGNITION’ and a bright light flashed a couple miles away as the rocket began its liftoff. As the rocket streaked skyward, the low sounding roar could be heard. The PA announcer counted off the SRB (solid rocket booster) separation and then the seperation of the first stage. The Atlas then soared out of site. After five or so minutes, the mission became top secret and went into stealth mode.
During his birthday trip to NYC with his family, John C. Dvorak attended the Broadway musical of Spiderman which he disliked immensely. Dvorak reported that due to the shows high technical demands, the performance was paused for around ten minutes right before a scenes climax!
Hey grandma, I don’t like your behavioral pattern!
Adam Curry brought up the GE QuietCare system which is a platform of networked  servers and sensors configured to monitor the patterns of seniors in assisted care facilities.  It learns the patterns of when the subject is awake, opening and closing cupboards and the refrigerator. If the monitored person does something something out of their ‘normal’ pattern, it alerts the staff!
Who are you going to call if you need to protect your valuable human resources, neutralize things or change the weather? Why, you call the Evergreen Supertanker!
According to their own promotional video, “Weather modification and ocean fertilization are also viable missions within the capability of the Supertanker.” This line has since been edited out of the latest version of the video.
More than likely, the weather reports you get on your smartphone, from television or the web, originates from Weather Central! It is now under control of a Rothschild investment company.
From their own press release:
E.L. Rothschild LLC, a private investment company led by Chairman Sir Evelyn de Rothschild and CEO Lynn Forester de Rothschild, today announced the signing of a definitive agreement to acquire a 70% interest in Weather Central, LP (www.wxc.com). The world’s leading provider of interactive weather graphics and data services for television, web, and mobile, Weather Central’s highly accurate and personalized forecasting offers businesses and consumers a truly unique suite of science-driven weather information products.
While discussing President Obama’s recent weightloss, it was postualted that perhaps he has a stomach parasite from eating sushi during his Hawaiian vacation. John C. Dvorak mentioned these creosote pills that are popular in Japan. After you take them, you belch smoke for a day! The pills are called Seirogan and they do indeed include creosote along with some other herbs. They are recommended for upset stomach, indigestion and other digestive ills.
During NA 269, John Dvorak claimed that chunks of meteorites can be worth thousands of dollars! He recommended a dealer in Sequim, WA that runs a rock shop that features them.
Mephadrone is sometimes sold legally as a bath salt with names like Ivory Wave, Vanilla Sky or, even as a plant food. Unfortunately, people have already died as a consequence to an overdose or severe reaction.
From the Jena Times:
A dangerous new drug being marketed as bath salts is sending dozens of Louisianians to the hospital, according to a warning issued last week by the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals. LaSalle Parish Sheriff Scott Franklin had issued a statement two weeks ago concerning the popularity of the synthetic drugs and how law enforcement are at a loss of how to combat the problem. Adam was giddy about the controversial, and recently removed NASA photos that show what appears to be a space ship or ‘moon base’ on Mars! The photos were taken by the Spirit exploration craft on the martian surface. More info here.
Now at the App Store, snitch apps! First there was the Patriot App to report suspicious behavior, now there’s Drive Me Crazy, a voice activated app where you can report someone and issue a virtual ticket! According to Adam Curry, this GPS enabled app records the time and place of the violations and then reports this information to the DMV and all insurance companies!
Adam explained further that this snithch app was produced by Philip Inghelbrecht, who created the popular music ID app, Shazam. Adam said all listeners of No Agenda should boycott Shazam and use Soundhound instead!
John and Adam further discussed how this is all part of See Something, Say Something and is similar to the infamous Stasi and other eastern european security organizations that encouraged snitching on your neighbors.
We at No Agenda Entertainment are intrigued at Drive Me Crazy’s capability to flag ‘cuties’ you see on the road. Maybe it ain’t all that bad?
“From the the Hilltop Watchtower Command Center in Gitmo Nation West in the People’s Republic of Southern Califor-ni-a! Sheeple turning into turkeys! “And from Northern Silicon Valley – the home of Reddy Kilowatt!”
During the opening of NA #255, Dvorak explained Reddy Kilowatt the mascot of west coat power company, Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E). Reddy was actually created in Alabama and was later adopted by different power companies as a symbol of clean, powerful electricity!
We dig this miniature, HO scale Reddy Kilowatt sign that you can purchase from Miller Signs, a model railroad accessory company.
Adam want to get off the cloud in a big way – what with Google selling out your data to the Feds (only $20!) he doesn’t want to compromise confidential data from people that send him inside info. His search for a ‘turn-key’ server solution that he could run inhouse was complete when he scored a Mac Mini server with it’s included OS – OSX Snow Leopard Server. To make it more like the Gmail service he was used to, he added Mail Steward, a MySQL database solution for rapid search and archiving of email. He also added a Mail.app plug in called MsgFilr for quick keyboard shortcuts to store mail in specific folders. On top of this, he added GnuGP for easy encryption of mail messages.
Adam went into detail expaining his server setup during DSC #853. He also describes it here on his CurrysCloud site.
Feel like your gettin’ dosed by x-rays on a regular basis? Work around a Gitmo Body Scanner? Buddy, you need a Dosimeter badge to carry around to monitor your radiation exposure! Used by medical technicians, radiologists and dentists, these badges monitor accumulated radiation exposure. Wear the dosimeter badge while at work and then send off to be read by the vendor. John Dvorak reported that Stanford Dosimetry makes some of the more affordable badges available at $69 a year, per person.
Perhaps a show producer can make some No Agenda co-branded dosimeter badges to hand out to TSA agents?
If you’re a fan of the Daily Source Code and have an iPhone, check out the DSC iPhone App! It give you quick links to the show archives, show notes as well as the live stream!
We are partnering with app creator Celtica, to make available the DSC playlist feed to the app, that way  you can download your favorite songs heard on DSC via iTunes on the iPhone!
We tipped off Adam about these crazy tracking vests that are being deployed by a Richmond pre-school. Sounds like the teacher has to check the papers, check the papers a lot!
Dvorak has a big peeve with San Francisco’s new SFPark smart parking meters. This over $24.5 million dollar pilot program seems like a scam according to Dvorak who thinks the spots should be free and that municipalities probably spend so much money administering parking programs with high paid employees, that they don’t make any money for the city. Well, at least $20 million dollars for these meters came from the federal government!
NoAgendaEntertainment was on the scene late July when these meters were first being installed in SF’s Hayes Valley neighborhood. Dvorak says that these meters were installed in front of Mevio’s offices on 2nd St. but they should have a low price since people rarely use them as there’s free parking nearby. Look for the City to eliminate the free spots so they can charge more at its new meters. Also, Dvorak should be happy that he can just shove his credit card right into the meter so he won’t have to waste ten minutes of meter time feeding coins in the slot.
This term came up while Adam explained his research into the two underwater well sites BP drilled in the Gulf of Mexico. In the documents Adam discovered, the well sites are not located by common GPS coordinates, but by Lambert X-Y Coordinates based upon the Lambert conformal conic mapping projection. Learn more!
